The novel Animal Farm was written in 1945. At that time, the concept of totalitarianism had not appeared. However, George Orwell, the author of the novel, alarmed people about the evil consequence that totalitarianism would bring. Analyzing the totalitarianism in Animal Farm is a good way for us to further learn the stern ironic fable.

2. 研究内容和预期目标

My paper will give a brief introduction of George Orwell and totalitarianism, including its origin and development, and will try to explore totalitarianism from different perspectives. The first part will introduce Orwell and Animal farm, especially the evolution of totalitarianism. Then, the paper will focus on the totalitarianism in Animal Farm from different perspectives.

3. 国内外研究现状

There have been some research on the totalitarianism and Animal Farm, for example, Hannah Arendt, from America, has offered his opinion concerning the definition of totalitarianism in the Origins of Totalitarianism. However, research on the totalitarianism in Animal Farm isn#8217;t rich, so it is meaningful for me to conduct the paper.
