1.purpose and significance ofsuspension design

1.1.definition, composition and function of suspension

suspension system is one of theimportant parts of automobile chassis assembly. it is a general term for allthe force transmission devices between the frame or the load-bearing body andthe axle or wheel. specifically, the suspension transmits the vertical reactionforce ( vertical support force), longitudinal reaction force ( braking forceand driving force) and lateral reaction force (cornering force) of the road tothe wheel and the moment generated by these forces to the vehicle body, so asto ensure the normal driving of the vehicle.[1]there are manydifferent structural forms of modern automobile suspension, but generallyspeaking, it is composed of elastic elements, damper andguidingmechanism.these three parts play the role of buffering, damping and guidingrespectively. in the process of driving, the suspension can slow down theimpact force caused by the uneven road surface, ensure the comfort of ridingand the integrity of goods, rapidly attenuate the vibration caused by theelastic system, transmit the vertical, longitudinal and lateral reaction forcesand moments, and play a guiding role, so that the wheels move relative to thebody according to a certain track. suspension determines the stability, comfortand safety of a car, and is one of the most important parts of a modern car.[2,3]
