This paper aims to study on subtitle translation from the perspective of functional equivalence and provide personal opinions in the case of Darkest Hour。
2. 实验内容和要求
This paper make ananalysis aboutthe necessity and feasibility of functional equivalence theory in guiding the subtitle translation, and briefly it introduces several common translation strategies used in the subtitle translation or application, which realizesfunctional equivalencein the film, mainly from the following four aspects: 1. Semantic Equivalence 2. Stylistic Equivalence 3. Textual Equivalence4. Cultural Equivalence, showing that whenit comes to the practice of functional equivalence in the subtitle translation, a lot of factors must be taken into consideration such as the differences of contexts, cultures, semantics and so on to translate better versions.
