the joy luck club, written by amy tan,has been the subject of much criticism since its publication in 1989. it wasfirstly translated into chinese by chen naishan in 1990. since then, a lot ofchinese scholars have done tremendous research from various perspectives. thereare more than 1000 academic articles published on cnki.net between 2000 and2014 and two perspectives should deserve our attention: conflicts andreconciliation.

some scholars show great interest in the analysis of conflicts betweenchinese mothers and americanized daughters.
