it is a undeniable fact that in and out of literature history, women are always placed the second. their inferiority to men is often voiced openly by maugham’s male characters who doubt their judgment and despise their morals. as a result, females have been treated unfairly no matter in job-hunting, education or other social aspects.through intensive reading and detailed analysis, the author will deeply analyze the causes of the three women’s tragic fates. from the author's family, life, spiritual world analysis of the author so depict the female image of the reason.
