research purpose:

the prosperous development of world economy and the boom of china’sforeign trade have witnessed the importance of the translation of financialenglish. however, there are many obscure financial terms which are difficult tounderstand for many people in china. a large number of metaphors have been usedin financial reporting, and its research has attracted the attention of manyscholars. the translation results are the keys for readers to comprehend. thisstudy aims at figuring out the translation methods and techniques of metaphorsin english financial texts by taking the translation of do we need a helicopter drop as an example, including its concept, types, identification methods and its features, such asuniversality and particularity, the illogicality of words and sentencevariation. in order to makeit easier for ordinary people to understand financial knowledge andinformation, translators are supposed to use common empirical knowledge andrational reasoning to express some concepts or examples in the financial field.
