the call fora community of shared future for mankindinitiative represents the core concept of contemporary china’s diplomacy and xi jinping’s diplomatic thoughts in the new era. president xi has launched a series of speeches to promote chinese proposal for the further development of international relations based on this initiative. this thesis aims to conduct a discourse study on president xi’s overseas speeches which are most related to the topics with the guidance of appraisal theory, trying to analysis the realization and distribution of engagement resources and explore how they help xi convey positive meanings in the proposal and state china’s stance in global stage.
