Phonetic transfer is a very commonphenomenon in English learning. For Chinese students, especially Englishlearners in dialect areas, the biggest obstacle that mastering Englishpronunciation is that they are consciously or unconsciously influenced byChinese and local dialects. Jiangsu is a developed area in China, and itsforeign exchange is becoming more and more important.

Good pronunciation is conducive to themastery of English listening and speaking skills. However, if the pronunciationis not well learned, it will affect learners'' interest and confidence in Englishlearning, thus preventing learners from mastering various English skills andcommunicative competence. As a local dialect of Chinese, Xuyi dialect hasdifferent phonetic features from English. Because of this, students in Xuyiarea are often influenced by their dialects in varying degrees when they learnEnglish pronunciation. They transfer their pronunciation habits to English moreor less, but ignore the differences between the two pronunciation systems,which leads to many pronunciation errors. Therefore, investigating and studyingthe negative transfer of Xuyi dialect to English phonetic learning and findingcorresponding countermeasures in practice will help students in Xuyi dialectarea learn English pronunciation correctly, improving their speaking andlistening proficiency, and enhance their English communicative competence.

2. 实验内容和要求

This paper introduces the history andchange process of Xuyi dialect, and combines with domestic and foreignresearch, finding that the negative transfer of English pronunciation has notbeen explored. Then based on the theory of language and the use of researchmethods, this paper is based on the questionnaire survey and voice test ofEnglish speech in the fifth and sixth grade of Xu Township, Xuyi County,Jiangsu Province, and the English learners voice learning of Xuyi regionaldialect voice caused by the negative transfer of influence from therelationship between initials and vowel by detailed studying and contrasting. Thenegative transfer of English phonetics in Xuyi dialect is discussed andsummarized. Its effective is discussed from two aspects of consonant and vowel.Aiming at the response strategies of English dialects in English dialects, themost reasonable strategies will be put forward through practice from theaspects of phonetics teaching, homework assignment after class and classroomteaching. It helps Xuyi students learn the correct pronunciation of English,improving the oral English communication skills, and adapts to the trend ofinternational exchange of the society, fundamentally letting students learnEnglish well.
