First of all, it is necessary to have a general idea of feminism and ecofeminism. Therefore, the study will firstly introduce the concept of feminism and ecofeminism. Then the study will analyze some of Hemingway's representative works and try to find out how ecofeminism and feminism are reflected. Ecofeminism was first raised in 1970s by Francois De Bonnie, a French female scholar, which combines ecological thought with feminist thought and reveals the significant and natural relationship between females and nature. In the world view, ecofeminism focuses on the general interest of nature and intends to reach the balance between females and nature. So, the study has to figure out how Hemingway balanced the relationship between those females in his works and nature. Additionally, Hemingway's female consciousness varied in different time.
