Ernest Hemingway was a major American writer in the 20^th century. This is a study of Ernest Hemingway with a focus on the development of his female consciousness. By analyzing the time he lived in and his personal experiences, and applying some feminist theories into the analysis of the heroines in his representative works, the study intends to prove that there was a distinctive female consciousness in Hemingway, which was developed over several stages as represented his novels. The study will help readers deeply understand Hemingway's female consciousness and know a different Hemingway.
