1. 研究目的与意义

In recent decades, China has made great progress in many fields such as economy, science and technology; and China#8217;s comprehensive strength has also been growing up. Therefore, exchanges between China and other countries are becoming more and more frequent. But in the meantime, there are many problems in translation which result in misunderstanding. The quality of translation affects the publicity effect and tourism development of the scenic spots. Tourism is the largest cultural services industry in the world now, and this new century is the best opportunity for China to develop its tourism. This paper aims to analyze the current situation of English translation development on introduction to scenic spots in China and find certain strategies.

2. 研究内容和预期目标

Try to explore the syntactic structure in translation of scenic spots and analyze the differences between Chinese and English tourism texts. Deepen the profundity of study and enhance the translation quality in tourist spot introduction. Propose relevant strategies and put forward improving measures from different angles by combining theory with practice.

3. 国内外研究现状

As one of the tourism products, translation of the introduction of scenic spots has been the research focus in recent years. In last ten years, translation studies on tourist attractions are increasing year by year. This shows that translation of the introduction of scenic spots attracts the attention of more and more scholars in the wake of the development of tourism industry in China. These research results will guide the translation practice in introduction of tourist attractions theoretically, and must produce profound influence for development and publicity in tourism industry. Through reviewing and organizing relevant literature, topic selection of thesis about strategies for translation of the introduction to scenic spots can be summarized as three different types: translation studies under theoretical guidance; studies on translation errors and contrastive studies on differences between English and Chinese stylistic features.Michael Cronin (2000) has emphasized the importance of relationship between tourists and tourism language. His further research also shows the necessity of linguistic analysis in translation. He pointed out that translator and linguistic structural features are the most two important factors in tourism translation.Lu Guofei (2006) dissected functional and practical translation errors under the guidance of skopos theory, and pointed out that the translators#8217; inadequate knowledge of skopos theory is the root of those errors.Researches at home and abroad are both very valuable; they offer unique insights about translation of the introduction to scenic spots from different point of view.
