purpose and significance:

the development of economic globalization has promoted the extensive communication between chinese and western cultures. as a medium of cultural communication, film plays an important role in cross-cultural communication. however, due to the differences between chinese and western cultural backgrounds and values, the spirit and ideas expressed in these films may be missing in the process of transmission.

therefore, the role of screen translation is becoming more and more prominent. good subtitle translation can accurately convey the spiritual connotation of the source language, promote the dissemination of the film, and strengthen the understanding of different cultures between chinese and western audiences. poor subtitle translation will not only affect the film's international reputation, but also hinder cultural exchanges.
