butler holds an indispensable position in ancient china and abroad. butleroriginates in france and flourishes in british. they are highly recognized inbritish society, which is closely related to the noble spirit and gentlemenculture. in ancient china，thesupervisor servants who manage the property and daily affairs for thebureaucrats and businessmen are also called butlers, or stewards. in thehistory of english and chinese literature, there are many literary worksdescribing aristocrats and families. in these literary works, writers createmany impressive images of the housekeeper for readers. family daily life is themain plots, while the housekeeper system may be the back framework thatsupports the content to some degree. based on the multicultural perspective, this paperpresents an analysis of the similarities and differences between chinese andbritish housekeeper systems and explores the interrelationship between thehousekeeper system and social development.
