1. 研究目的与意义（文献综述）

research purpose:

a dream of red mansionsis one of the greatest works in the history of chinese culture and enjoys great reputation all over the world. however, people in other countries may have some language and cultural barriers when appreciating this work. therefore, translators should try their best to remove the barriers, so that readers in other countries can obtain the original contents ofa dream of red mansionsto the greatest extent. however, it is a formidable task to translate hundreds of meaningful and complex names into english, which makes it even more difficult to translate these names with aesthetic feeling.based on the perspective of translation aesthetics, this research does several translation practice of yang xianyi's and hawkes's translation versions ofa dream of red mansions, aiming to explore the strategies and methods of translating the names of people ina dream of red mansions.
