research purpose:

as china cooperatesincreasingly widely with the world in various fields, number interpretationbecomes one of the most high-priority tasks of interpreters, however, it hasalways been a major failure of them, let alone most university learners. thelistening materials selected in the course of alternative interpretation aregenerally of high definition and easy to distinguish for first learners.however, as a matter of fact, if the speaker speaks too fast, with an accent,or the environment too noisy, the psychological pressure is too high, and thenumber is too big to remember, any one of these problems could make interpreterfail. with gile’s model theory this essay discusses where these mistakes are fromand how they formed, trying to clarify the essences of mistakes and behavioralmechanism of the interpreters when they deal with number interpretation tasks,in occasions like business talks, foreign affairs reception, government report,interview and so on. with reasonable strategies and abundant exercises, theaccuracy and efficiency of interpreter can be enhanced.
