research purpose:

as globalization gains momentum, international culturalexchanges are unprecedently profound in which translation serves as a bridgebetween different cultures. as a result, many scholars see translation not onlyas conversion between two languages but as communication across cultures. besidestheir mastery of two languages, translators’ choice of translation strategiesand methods is increasingly affected by external cultural factors such associal background, ideology, and business. by applying cultural approaches, theresearch is aimed at exploring how the non-textual factors related to translationpractice, especially the translation of chinese literature works, influence translators’strategies and can be conducive to better translation in cultural exchanges.
