research purpose:

language use in the cross-cultural era hasled to the surge of lettered words in non-romanised languages especially inchina. however, some linguistic purists have concerns for these unwanted alienelements although lettered words have become a significant part of modernchinese lexicon. even the general administration of press and publication(gapp) issued a notice on further standardizing the use of words inpublications in 2010, which requires that the use of chinese lettered words andenglish initialisms in chinese publications should be prohibited. under thebackground of restriction of chinese english-origin lettered words, this papermainly focuses on the usage of chinese english-origin lettered words in chinesebusiness news from comnews.cn, and tries to analyze the significance of chineseenglish-origin lettered words in business news based on the theory of economicsof language. and it concludes that chinese english-origin lettered words inchinese business news need not to be eliminated.
