research purpose:

with the developmentof feminism and the awakening of female consciousness, mental rather thanphysical or material independence of women has become a more significant andurgent appeal further against the ideological control from male-dominatedsociety. tender is the night, exactly, creates several female characterswith conspicuous mental freedom by tracking these characters’psychologically-maturing procedures and contrasting them with decaying malefigures; however, this work has not been paid the corresponding attention.based on the feminism theories of both simone de beauvoir and li yinhe, thisresearch is going to explore the new woman features presented among severalmain female characters in tender is the night and the factors leading tothose traits thus inspiring the modern feminism and feminist literature.
