1. 研究目的与意义(文献综述)

the theory of multiple intelligences, which is put forward by psychological professor howard gradner, poses a challenge to the traditional evaluation methods for students’ abilities. it also exerts a positive impact on the educational reforms of many western countries. in the meanwhile, the theory has been spreaded in china, becoming the important thought of our fundamental educational reforms.

for the issue of judging a person’s ability, the paper holds the opinion that it should be based on people's ability to solve problems and creativity in natural environment. it will be also emphasized in the paper that intelligences are not center on language ability and logical capacity but a group of them are independent and also exist in diversified ways. a person’s intellectual structure is made up of seven elements, including language, logic, vision, body, music, communication and introspection. actually, each student has these seven intelligences, but the reason why they differ in their studies is that these intelligences exist in different degrees or ways. so, that is to say, each student is outstanding as well as special and no evidence can be proved that there are so many poor students in our world. as for a teacher, if she or he can realize this point, these students can be evaluated from various aspects and the teacher can find their sparkling advantages as well as develop their potentials.

xrs, affiliated to the educational company tomorrow advancing life, which is famous as an educational organization in wuhan. most parents send their kids to be trained here because of its advanced grading teaching method. it refers to the fact that xrs divides all students into four different kinds of classes according to their entrance exams’ grades. furthermore, each kind of class has different lessons which are based on their studies abilities. as for the superior students, they study faster than the common people. at the same time, teachers will make different teaching plans to guide these students well. according to gradner’s theory, it is necessary to implent different teaching ways in order to satisfy different students’ demands.

2. 研究的基本内容与方案

this paper sets its goal to the study of theory of multiple intelligences, and takes the useful lessons from it as well as apply them into english teaching. at the same time, it will analyze the connection among these intelligences.

this paper focuses on the grading teaching from three aspects: combination with the intelligences, benefits of grading teaching, results of grading teaching.

for the first part, the paper will analyze these seven intelligences and apply them in teaching. for example, the language intelligence can be made full use in order to judge students’ presentation skills. if we can combine useful and efficient intelligences with teaching practices, the teaching results will be better.
