1. 研究目的与意义(文献综述)

With the rapid development of MTI education in China, the relevant research and discussions turned their targets from macroscopic aspects like degree characteristics and discipline system, to some more specific operational aspects, like training mode and teaching methods, which highlights the significance of market-guided mode in MTI education. Therefore, applying a more practical mode to cultivate students' ability of translation so as to satisfy the needs from market, and promoting a high level of translation practice bases or internship programs are of great importance.
At present, China's MTI education has some problems, which mainly include:
In the first place, for a long time the translation talent training mode emphasizes much more on theories compared with practice, which is incompatible with the great demands from both translation industry and society;
Besides, the country set up a lot of practice bases and internship programs for MTI study, but they may be lack of standardized management and practical forms, which render them not meaningful.
These problems indicate that China's MTI internship programs need to be improved, especially in colleges of science and engineering. However, the research on this aspect is till wanting. In CNKI, there are only about thirty papers related to MTI practice bases and internship programs.
In comparison with the research on MTI training in China, the research conducted by foreign countries is much maturer-- There are loads of dissertations about MTI training target, teaching mode and curriculum model. However, foreign institutions, such as the Monterey senior translation college, Britain University of bath, Leeds University, University of Westminster, etc. pay more attention to the service in The United Nations, the European Union and national government agencies, thus students focus on all kinds of meetings and fields as political, economic, cultural and other macro areas of practice. This kind of training mode has certain reference value for the MTI training of professional foreign language institutes with similar training goals in our country, but it has great limitation for the MTI project in science and engineering colleges. Due to the differences of the training objectives, we can not directly draw experience and advice from them. What’s more, foreign related researches stress more on the goal and mode of cultivating, but not provide much information about the right way of forming a practice base, and that makes it confused and not adaptable.
This paper aims to explore the status quo of WHUT-TRANSNMIT internship program, and the potential problems and dilemma this program faced with. To know the students’ experiences and their opinions about program ensures the practicability and scientificity of the internship. Therefore, this paper can reveal the practical methods to build a more effective internship program that benefit Chinese MTI education.
The approaches of school-enterprise cooperation can be various, thus probing a more optimized model enables both sides to gain mutual benefits, achieve common progress, and further promote the talent training so as to cultivate more professional and skillful expert translators and better serve the local economy.

2. 研究的基本内容与方案

In order to fully understand the whole progress of how the graduates deal with their translation tasks, their opinions about the advantages and disadvantages of the program and how the internship affects their choices of future career, methods as interviewing with two intern representatives, Miss Meng and Mr. Wang, who have been both undertaking this task for about half a year and have mature and practical suggestions for it, will be applied to mainly gain necessary information. At the same time, the relevant questionnaires, which include 16 MCQ and questions, will as well be distributed to the other program participants, so that the research can be more reliable and less biased.
Questions are presented as follows ( But will not be limited to these ones):
1. The translation content, including what types of texts they mainly translate, how frequently they get a task, and what the difficulty level they suppose.
2. The relationship between what they can learn in classes and in the internship.
3. The practicability of translation software.
4. What graduates gain form completing these tasks and their plan for future career
5. Suggestions for the program
Afterwards, telephone interviews with a manager who is from TRANSN company and in charge of this program will be conducted to obtain further information according to what the students reflect. Certainly, a two-way communication with both the employers and employees will provide full-scale perspectives to researcher so that much more appropriate and profound analysis and deliberation can be revealed. Finishing all these data gathering and analyzing, researcher can show the whole picture of this program, develop the strengths and put forward possible suggestions and countermeasures to tackle with problems it may encounter.
