1. 研究目的与意义
Equality between men and women has been considered as one of the important symbols of modern civilization and modernization. We should have a proper evaluation of the gender discrimination of language, we can''t go to extremes, and can''t think there is gender discrimination language in all areas. What''s more, after we learn about the linguistic sexism and the causes of this kind of discrimination, we can just find solutions of the problem.
In any culture, language is always one of the critical elements related to the development of society. Hence study from the English language and its affiliated cultural significance, we can learn the features of gender discrimination in English culture.
I want to make analysis on the features, reasons and development of linguistic sexism in this thesis. I hope that my study will help readers form a general idea of linguistic gender discrimination, as well as have a clear concept of why we should know sexism. The study also aims to inspire a thought-provoking of how to solve linguistic sexism.2. 研究内容和预期目标
the thesis intends to give a detailed analysis to the linguistic sexism fromboth lexical , idiom and other related aspects.this thesis mainly consists of four parts:introduction, gender discrimination against female, changes in gender discrimination, and conclusion.
firstly, the introduction is concerned with the past and present state of the relevant research, the purpose of this paper, and the significance of the chosen topic. secondly, gender discrimination against female amp; changes in gender discrimination are the main parts of this thesis. the part of gender discrimination against female consists of the overall situation and the historical reason and the specific manifestation in words and expressions. the part of changes in gender discrimination explains the reason of changes in linguistic sexism, the specific changes in different aspects, and the outlook of changes in linguistic sexism. at last, the conclusion summarizes this thesis.
in this thesis, the main questions: what is sexism? how did it perform in language? how this kind of sexism develop? what are the changes in linguistics sexism and why do these changes happen? what is the outlook of sexism?
3. 国内外研究现状
In the early 1970 s, the feminist movement rose in the western countries. Affected by this movement, many western countries began to lift series of campaign to eliminate gender discrimination.Gender discrimination reflected in language makes the special form of linguistic sexism, and the view of linguistic sexism was put forwarded onto the table since then.
At present, the study on linguistic sexism has no longer focused simply on criticism against gender discrimination, whereas, more and more linguistists pay their attention to the study on the devlopment of linguistic sexism, and try to find the solution of linguistic gender discrimination, which have led to some reforms and the elimination of linguistic gender discrimination.
Generally speaking, the recent study on linguistic sexism can be broadly separated into two categories: the criticism against linguistic sexism, the research on development of linguistic gender discrimination, and the study on finding the solutions of sexism.4. 计划与进度安排
