Marriage has great effect upon the every member of the society. With the development of communicative technology and transportation, the cross-cultural marriage becomes more and more common. However, every nation has its unique marriage ideas and wedding customs because they have the different environment, history, and culture. Compared with Chinese nation with more than 5000 years of history, the western countries have fewer years to develop its culture; it is no wonder that these countries have the quite different personalities. Western society focuses on the individual rights and freedom, while Chinese pay attention to the ethical life and the interdependence relationship. So relatively, the marriage culture between China and western will be different. This paper will discover the value system has an important impact on the concept of marriage between Chinese and western culture and promote the communication between each other.

Chinese traditional value of marriage is also changing. People tend to understand, and even accept the western value of marriage. So does the western people. Although two sides have huge difference with each other, people from two sides have the same interests in the value of marriage from the other side, and the desire to seek common ground while reserving differences. Recently a lot of films with the theme of marriage have been broadcasted in China, such as 《THE DEFENSIVE WAR FOR MARRIAGE》. The western countries present the value of Chinese marriage through films, magazine and novels, like 《THE JOY LUCK CLUB》. What#8217;s more, more and more crossing-cultural marriages allow more people have deep understanding of the value of eastern and western marriage.
