Analysis of Tesss Tragedy开题报告

1. 研究目的与意义

Tess of the D#8217;Urbervilles is the master work of the English novelist Thomas Hardy. This novel describes a tragic life of a beautiful and pure girl--Tess. By analyzing Tess#8217;s tragedy, I have many reflections on life and deeply feel that the heroine#8217;s tragedy is inevitable. In this paper, I will try to make a detailed analysis on the novel and show differentcauses of the heroine#8217;s tragedy. Besides, through the paper, people can learn a lesson from this tragedy and avoid such tragedy happening again.

2. 研究内容和预期目标

My paper will briefly introduce the details of the book and analyze the reasons for the Tess#8217;s tragedy and lessons for the human beings. The first part will give a brief introduction of the book and the background. Then the paper will try to analyze several main causes of Tess#8217;s final tragedy, includingthe social factor, two main male characters and Tess#8217;s parents in the novel and her own character. The third part will introduce the lessons for people and how to avoid this tragedy. The last part will give some suggestions to avoid such tragedy happening again.

There have been many researches on Tess#8217;s tragedy made by both Chinese and foreign scholars, such as 《国内哈代悲剧小说研究简述》 written by Chen Hong,《近20年国内哈代小说研究述评》 written by Liu Maosheng and Study ofThomas Hardy and Other Essays written by D.H.Lawrence.

Because of the frequent Tess#8217;s tragedies in our daily life, we should pay moreattention to the causes of the tragedies and think of solutions to the phenomenon. That#8217;s why I attempt to make a research on this novel.
