1. 研究目的与意义

So far, so many people have been studying the tragic reasons for Hamlet because it is one of the most classic tragic drama written by Shakespeare. And according to my study, these studies are more or less incomplete, some focus on Hamlet#8217;s characters, others concern on the social environment. So I want to make up these reasons by analyzing these studies and then explore deeper reasons to come up with a better conclusion.

Research contents: In this thesis, I am going to analyze previous studies on Hamlet, and search for potential reasons from all kinds of aspects on the basis of the text. 3. 国内外研究现状

According to my study, at abroad, many scholars think the main reasons are his characters. First of all, as a prince, Hamlet was so weak that when knowing his father was killed, his mother was dispossessed, and his throne was stolen by his uncle, he could have killed Claudy directly, but he was too hesitate. When Claudy prayed for his crime, it was the best chance to revenge for his father, but he missed it because of the characters. Secondly, he was hesitant about doing things. On the one hand, he loved harmony, happiness, and beauty, and on the other hand, to fight with powerful federal forces, he must unite the power of the people, then people had to sacrifice for Hamlet#8217;s revenge. He didn#8217;t want to see these conditions. So Hamlet missed the chance to revenge for his father. Lastly, Hamlet was influenced by fate. At first, he still wanted to battle with Claudy and his forces, but gradually, he became negative. Because he knew however hard he did, the outcome was arranged by his fate. This kind of mind caused his death finally. And at home, it is widely believed that the reason is social status. Firstly, the reactionary forces were so powerful that Claudy dispossessed the queen, then the queen and most secretaries supported Claudy. Hamlet had to fight with almost the whole government. Secondly, to fight with the powerful federal forces, Hamlet had to joint forces with the masses. But he was not good at mobilizing the masses. Hamlet was a prince and was respected by the people. He could have got these people#8217;s assistance, but he didn#8217;t choose this way. These are domestic and international studies.

4. 计划与进度安排

The thesis is to study deeper tragic reasons for Hamlet. Here are some of the aspects. 1.Analyzing some typical plots which caused his tragedy. 2.Making up some reasons from former studies. 3.Analyzing these studies, finding out incomplete contents of the studies. 4.Figuring out specific tragic reasons for Hamlet. 5.Making a conclusion.
