With the development of English in China, English is becoming more and more localization .Thus a new English variety has appeared --China English. China English is different from Chinglish.China English,as a variety of English used by native-Chinese people for communication under the specific language environment, is in accordance with normative English, though carries obvious characteristics of the Chinese language and culture on the levels of pronunciation, lexis, and grammar.China English plays a very important role in cross-cultural communication. Therefore,it is essetial to raise people's attention to China English .

2. 研究内容和预期目标

This paper, on the basis of a general survey into some of the most frequently quoted definitions for China English and the history of the development of China English, examines its characteristics and elaborates its differences from Chinese English with focus made on the significance of China English in cross-cultural communication. This paper mainly consists of 6 parts: introduction, basic information of China English, types of China English,the role of China English ,the function of China English.

3. 国内外研究现状

China English could originally date back to the 1960s, as chronic mistakes that scholars often made. In the early 80s, some scholars had recognized that China English is far from #8220;mistakes#8221;. According to some researches, it is said that the term #8221;China English #8221; is first proposed by Chinese educationist Ge Chuangui(葛传椝) in 1980,though Ge#8217;s view didn#8217;t raise people#8217;s attention at that time. Fortunately, more and more scholars have realized the unique existence of China English since 1990s.Upon coming into 21s century, China English has become not only an academic focus but also a social issue.Foreign researches on Chinese English also develop rapidly after coming into 21 century. According to Global Language Monitor(GLM),#8221;China English#8221; had been twice successfully elected on the chart of Annual popular vocabulary both in 2005 and 2006.China English has been recognized in Western countries at different levels,especially some China idioms such as #8220;Long time no see#8221; and #8221;Gaokao#8221;.
