Reasons for Fossilization and Several Suggestions for Overcoming Fossilization开题报告

1. 研究目的与意义

This thesis aims to analyze the reasons for the failures in the process of the second language acquisition. China is a country in which millions of people learn a second language or several foreign languages. However, they generally have found the universal problem in the process of acquisition. That is fossilization. The analysis of this phenomenon is for the final proposal of the solution of the fossilization. This could help those second language learners find the effective method to solve the obstacles in the learning process.

Most second language learners meet their obstacles after they have got the basic knowledge of a second language. At this special time point, most of them feel that they could handle any possible problem with the ability they have acquired in the previous learning. This kind of consciousness could destroy most they have learned. The analysis of this phenomenon could function to help them understand what their problems are. So that they, second language learners, can find the final exit for their dilemma.

What I would like to highlight in the thesis is that the core of this phenomenon is not the culture factor. The final solution lies in the practical applicability of the second language. This will be a fresh view in this particular field.

2. 研究内容和预期目标

The thesis intends to give a detailed analysis to the phenomenon of fossilization. Generally, this thesis consists of four parts: introduction, the reasons for fossilization, the solutions of fossilization and conclusion. For introduction, I will introduce the present situation of the research about this thesis. For the reasons for fossilization, I will give my analysis of the fossilization phenomenon from three aspects, culture and method of thinking and practical applicability. This part will be the main body of the thesis. The next part is for the solution of this phenomenon also from those three angles. And the last part of the thesis is the conclusion.

What is fossilization? What is the specific performance of fossilization? What are the reasons for the fossilization? What we can do to change the way fossilization affects us and the second language learners? These types of questions would be discussed in my paper primarily.

3. 国内外研究现状

there are some studies about the fossilization phenomenon in west and china, not a lot. instead of paying much attention to the practical exercise, scholars are more willing to study on culture factors. so i want to gather information for my thesis through each possible channel. i found some meaningful papers or articles about the analysis of the practical exercise and the method of thinking in the fossilization phenomenon. they will give me more information to understand the special phenomenon.

some of those scholars did state meaningful point of view in different aspect. as my highlight is in the practical learning of the second language, i will quote their opinions in my thesis in this aspect. but the culture view in this problem is also very important. i will use their views also.

in fact, most oriental scholars talk a lot about the practical applicability factor when they do research about this, while the western scholars will be more willing to state their point from the culture factor.
